S. Lombardi & Associates (SLA) opened its doors in 1973 and is the longest established full-service Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations agency on the Central Coast.

Today, SLA has a long list of clients that have been on the roster for over 20 years and some as long as 30 years. Steve Lombardi

Owner

Steve combines his energy and inherent love for the marketing industry with a commitment to quality and accountability.He has a degree in journalism, but jokes that his diploma from McDonald's Hamburger U's Marketing Division has probably served the agency better. Before joining Gary Suggs in the advertising agency business, Steve worked for the Hanford Sentinel, KSBY-TV in San Luis Obispo and KEYT-TV in Santa Barbara. In the early 80's Suggs & Lombardi started Senior Magazine, a publication targeting the growing senior population on the Central Coast. Steve has always felt that the collective ego is more important than the individual ego, thus the line: "When everybody's thinking like me, nobody's thinking very much."

Brittany Hensley

Sales Manager

Born and raised in Paso Robles, Brittany earned a degree in Mass Communication and Journalism with an emphasis in Advertising from Fresno State. Prior to joining the SLA Team, she spent twelve years with McClatchy Publishing as a Graphic Designer, Account Executive and manager of the Real Estate and Retail Sales Departments specializing in digital campaigns. Her passion for Advertising & Marketing is equal to her love of anything involving water. Brittany ran the Aquatics program for the County of San Luis Obispo and is an avid swimmer, kayaker, boater, fisherman and is frequently mistaken for a mermaid. She goes to great lengths for her clients and prides herself on her lasting personal and work relationships.


Clay Peterson

Media Director

Clay joined the SLA team after nearly a decade as Field Media Manager for Anheuser-Busch where he planned, negotiated and executed media budgets for the company’s various beverages. This also meant he would have to “test” those various beverages in order to become better acquainted with them. (Although he refused to offer specifics)

With experience as a Media Buyer, Account and Media Coordinator, as well as having developed media plans for major motion pictures including Napoleon Dynamite, Sideways and the Oscar winning Crash, Clay’s background is sure to provide a long list of benefits to our clients. A graduate of UCSB with a degree in Communication, Clay is a family man having recently celebrated the arrival of a second son.

Roz Cowden

Sr. Graphic Designer

A Cal State Northridge graduate who has been with the agency for 29 years, Roz has worked on so many different projects from annual reports and newsletters to newspaper inserts and marketing presentations, few have her experience or attention to details. She also practices Transcendental Meditation and is currently levitating over her desk.

Mike Parks

Creative Director

Michael wanted to pitch for the New York Mets. Unfortunately, they never wanted him. Instead, he became a radio personality, a talk show host, newsman, a TV writer and producer, college instructor and finally, for the last 24 year, SLA's Creative Director. Michael has more than 40 years of experience in the broadcast/media industry and provides the voice for several of our clients. He also keeps hoping to get that call from the Mets.

Denise Barcus

Business Manager

Although she grew up in the San Fernando Valley, Denise is originally from Puerto Rico, the northeastern Caribbean island known for its tropical climate, diverse scenery, flavorful cuisine and Ricky Martin. Denise earned a degree in Computer Science and Accounting and has served as a bookkeeper and office manager for several local businesses over the last thirty years. She is also on staff at her church in Arroyo Grande where she is a Youth Minister for middle school-aged youngsters. Married since the early 1980’s, Denise and her husband Ken have two sons – one of whom serves in the military. Denise is also an avid “sewist” and spends her free time with needle and thread at the ready, even here at the office where the occasional parted seam or dangling hem receives her immediate attention.

Jordyn Tindell

Client Services Coordinator

Originally from South Lake Tahoe, Jordyn earned a degree in Marketing with an emphasis on research and strategic planning from Biola University. She then went on to create strategic marketing plans for the fitness, nonprofit and wine industries. Prior to joining the SLA team, Jordyn led marketing, public relations and business development initiatives for multiple different clients throughout the country. Her passion, creativity and positive outlook instill a feeling of trust and optimism in clients that is necessary for success.

Taylor Curtiss

Marketing Intern

Currently a Cal Poly SLO Business and Marketing Student with a passion for photography, Taylor is the latest addition to the team. She is filling our Marketing Internship position. Originally from Washington State, Taylor has made her way down to the Golden State after narrowly escaping the constant downpour of rain. Outside of work, you can find her mountain biking, hiking, playing volleyball or taking photographs.
